Have I missed something? What is with the hostility towards Mark Lawn on here today?

He deserves enormous credit in my book. I don't recall seeing a queue of other investors fighting him to loan their own cash to this football club.

If, and we don't know, ML was agitating and putting pressure on the management, well, thank god somebody was! The whole thing was drifting shambolically, I'd have been the same if my money was at risk.

Assume its down to McCall not mentioning him in his radio interviews and the newspaper report claiming there was a rift between the two

Think these might have something to do with it:

http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/news/4993797.Legend_McCall_quits_as_Bradford_City_boss/

The board are reluctant to say too much until McCall’s farewell is finalised. Joint-chairman Mark Lawn said: “Obviously I’ve only heard this through the grapevine. Stuart hasn’t spoken to me.

http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportbcfc/4993624.McCall_gone_but_he_will_never_be_forgotten/

But it has been no smooth ride. His relationship with Mark Lawn has become strained to the point where they have barely communicated in months.
Suggestions from above that he should bring in the know-how of an older head in his coaching staff have been rebuffed.

Saturday was the first time I didn't see Mark Lawn at the game. He is usually wondering around the bars and suites upstairs in the Sunwin stand but didn't see him at all.

I know JR, not that I'm sure I would recognise him, wasn't there but thought it was strange not seeing ML going round talking to people.

As for his investment of his own money, wasn't a lot of it a loan at 9% and he has taken some of it back from the Delph money. Obviously we do not have all the facts, but like JR before he stepped in when no-one else would and therefore should always be thanked.

The £2.5m when he first came here was investment, it was the £1m used to balance the books last season that was the 'high interest' loan!

Thanks for that Statto, I couldn't remember the figures and what was claimed to be a loan and what was investment. Did he get the whole £1million back from the Delph money or is he still owed money on the loan?

Statto, he invested 2.5 million originally and that is still owed?

I am muddled up, I thought he'd invested 1 million. Anyway, at 2.5, he has gone up further in my estimation. He must be mad, no way that I would do that.

If Statto is correct, no reason for me to think otherwise, then the £2.5 million would not need repaying as it was an investment and not a loan. Therefore it is what he paid for his shares, he would only get that back if when he sold his shares they were worth more than that figure.

When ML first joined Bradford City he gave the club £2.5 million, that money pretty much paid off the clubs debt. That wasn't a loan, it was ML putting money into the club with no strings attached. Last year Mark Lawn loaned the club £1m in order to balance the books (it's rumoured that there is 9% interest on that loan) and Lawn will get that £1m back at some point along with the interest. When Delph was sold Mark Lawn came out adn said he would not be taking all the money back as repayment of his loan and that some of it would go towards the running costs of the club!

I never knew this, I was told it was 1 million for a 49% stake which allows him a wage as a shareholder. And the further million was a loan with intrest that the club paid back / pays back.

So he's done a Richmond and tried to interfere with the team? Needless to say that he's invested a massive amount of money in the club, so I still don't understand why people are criticising him.
